ROAD CYCLING IN LIVIGNO: THE NEW ROAD BIKE TOUR PROGRAM IS ON

For the summer 2021 amateurs and road bikers will be able to choose, among many proposals, the tour most suitable to their level of preparation. A weekly program designed to discover the Alpine passes that have made the history of the Giro d'Italia. Even the experts will be able to explore the Stelvio, the Bernina or the Mortirolo thanks to the flagship service signed Pinarello.

In the heart of the Alps between the extraordinary landscapes of Alta Valtellina and Canton Grigioni, pedaling is pure magic. In this place the history of Italian cycling has been written, among legendary climbs, epic ascents and unparalleled alpine scenery, Livigno is the point of arrival and departure for tours among the natural beauty of this territory.

ROAD BIKE TOUR: FLAGSHIP AND RIDE WITH THE CHAMPIONS
To allow sportsmen and enthusiasts to test themselves and their limits through unforgettable tours that touch some of the most famous Alpine passes, Livigno proposes Road Bike Tour
: exciting routes composed of climbs over 2000 meters, endless climbs, asphalt snakes that climb through the vegetation, rock walls and tongues of snow that resist the temperature... All to be explored with the precious support of the BIKE guides and the flagship service, in collaboration with the frame manufacturer Cicli Pinarello. This service, designed to bring amateurs closer to the world of road biking, represents a novelty in 2021.


With the flagship van, Livigno provides a point of support always ready for every eventuality support for those who want to stop or need assistance for their vehicle. The flagship van is active from Monday to Friday and guarantees a bike experience in complete tranquility, thanks also to the support of the Bike Guides who will be able to provide any kind of indication to better plan the tour. Every Wednesday instead it will be possible to participate in the "Day with the Champion" and ride in the company of various professionals present in Livigno for their training.

MONDAY: ENGADINA TOUR
Among the routes proposed in the Road Bike Tour 2021, on Monday stands out the Engandina tour, a ring tour also suitable for amateurs, lasting 5-7 hours, which between climbs, descents with little steepness, and a succession of ups and downs leads cyclists to the discovery of Passo Forcola (2,315 m), Passo del Bernina (2,315 m) and the picturesque village of Zernez, the panoramic Ova Spin dam, the Munt la Schera Tunnel and finally the Piccolo Tibet with a relaxing ride along the lakeside promenade.

TUESDAY: STELVIO PASS
For Tuesday, the program includes the ascent of the Stelvio Pass from the Swiss side of the Umbrail Pass. A scenic route of 6-8 hours with soft start from the lakefront of Livigno. After the initial support of a shuttle that will take travelers to the opposite side of the Tunnel Munt la Schera, the first ascent of the tour begins to discover the Forno Pass at an altitude of 2.149 m; a very long descent will follow which, through the Val Müstair, will lead to the beautiful village of Santa Maria. The itinerary then continues with a steep path with a gradient of 12% slope that anticipates a series of hairpin bends up to the Umbrail Valley. After having reached the Umbrail pass at an altitude of 2,500 meters, there are still 3.6 kilometers to reach Cima Coppi, the Stelvio Pass at an altitude of 2758 m.

WEDNESDAY: RIDE WITH THE CHAMPION
Departing between 9.00 and 10.00 a.m. from the Bike Skill Center, the Wednesday tour in Livigno is dedicated to the "Ride with the Champion", a free path shorter than the classic tours, accompanied by one of the professional athletes present in the Small Tibet, among them Elia Viviani, Giulio Molinari, Barbara Guarischi and many others. Also during "Day with the Champion" guests will have the opportunity to be followed by shuttle service for the return to Livigno.

THURSDAY: FOSCAGNO AND FORCOLA PASSES
On Thursday is the turn of Passo Foscagno + Passo Forcola. A tour, undertaken also by professionals who train in Livigno, which crosses a good part of the Alta Valtellina and the Val Poschiavo in Switzerland. With 2,800 meters of elevation gain and 125 kilometers of distance, this route includes the Eira pass at 2,208 meters above sea level and the Foscagno pass at 2,291 meters before of a long descent towards Valdidentro, Bormio and Tirano. From here after a short stop, the tour starts again towards Poschiavo Lake in Switzerland. After 8 kilometers of flat path, you will go back to climb steadily for 22 kilometers until the Swiss customs at La Motta, where you will leave the main Bernina road for the Forcola Pass. To get to the top, at 2,315 meters, travelers will have to cross an evocative moonscape called “GESSI”, the Chalks in english.

FRIDAY: FLUELA AND ALBULA PASSES
On Friday
a lesser known route to most people is the Flüela Pass and Albula Pass, which runs entirely through Swiss territory between valleys, villages and natural attractions. Departure and arrival point is Zernez, 30 km from Livigno, reachable by public transport or shuttle service. A itinerary of 117 kilometers and 3.070 meters of altitude difference starts with the exploration of the village of Susch, reachable after a short flat stretch of 6 kilometers. From here you start climbing for 13 kilometers towards the Flüela pass at an altitude of 2383 m. The descent will lead to Davos, famous ski resort in the canton of Grisons and the Albula valley where the second ascent of the day begins.

The climb is spectacular and allows tourists to enter a real gorge carved into the rock. This road, with constantly steep slopes and a single central flat area, allows you to reach the final part of the Albula Pass, at an altitude of 2312 mt.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY: CHOOSE BETWEEN STELVIO, MORTIROLO, GAVIA AND CANCANO LAKES

On Saturdays and Sundays there are other tours on request of the guests, with the possibility of shuttle service for the return to Livigno. The available routes are the Stelvio with the ascent from the South Tyrolean side of Prato Stelvio; the Mortirolo pass and the Gavia pass, one of the most famous tours also proposed during the Giro d'Italia; the panoramic Cancano Lakes with departure and arrival in Livigno.
