ALPENFEST 2025: WHEN THE MOUNTAIN TELLS ITS STORY WITH ELEGANCE AND HEART

It wasn’t just a festival. Alpenfest 2025 was a declaration of love for the mountains — mountains that welcome with simplicity, yet know how to amaze with style. On September 27 and 28, Livigno and Trepalle became open-air stages of pure emotion, inviting everyone to live and breathe their magic.

It all began with the parade: one of the most authentic moments, the beating heart on which Alpenfest is built. The animals, adorned with flowers and cowbells, left the mountain huts to cross the village, accompanied by farmers in traditional dress. A ritual rooted in history, yet one that today engages and excites people of all ages, keeping a tradition alive that continues to walk hand in hand with the community.

Transhumance is not just the passage of livestock from the mountain huts down to the valley. It is a symbolic moment that marks the end of summer and the beginning of a new season. It is an invitation to reconnect with the rhythms of nature, to celebrate the work and care that the mountain requires, and to look ahead toward the coming winter.

There was a different energy in the air: the scent of hay and wood, the warmth of genuine smiles, music that was more than just a soundtrack—it was a shared breath. Every detail was designed to amaze and inspire. From the performances of the Livigno Music Band and the Monteneve Choir, to the children’s workshops; from traditional dishes reimagined with elegance to the warmth of spontaneous encounters along the village streets, everything spoke the same language: that of an authentic, refined, and welcoming mountain. This year, the Alpenfest Livigno Trophy was awarded to the Claoti Alessandro farm.

Among the most memorable moments was the ‘Gusto e Tradizione’ lunch, curated by the Association of Chefs and Pastry Chefs of Livigno (ACPL) and inspired by the book Lèina da Saór. A culinary journey that beautifully blended memory, creativity, and identity. The menu featured iconic dishes such as veal head carpaccio with baby greens, parsley emulsion, and shavings of Latteria di Livigno cheese; creamy barley risotto with nettle sauce, porcini mushrooms, and Eröe cheese; golden-roasted pork neck with potato, pancetta, and onion tart; and to finish, ricotta ice cream from the Latteria with raspberry coulis and zucar ros macaron.

When the sun went down, Davide Van De Sfroos gave voice to everything already felt within. With his music—woven from stories, irony, and poetry—he closed Saturday evening with a concert featuring all his greatest hits.

On Sunday, in Trepalle, the celebration continued in an equally captivating atmosphere. A moment to share and to be embraced by the silent strength of the mountain.

Alpenfest 2025 left a lasting mark. Not only in photos or memories, but in that hard-to-describe feeling you carry with you when a place truly speaks to the heart.

Over these two days, Livigno revealed its most genuine side: a place where tradition meets beauty, and where every season knows how to surprise and inspire.
