COLOURS, SCENTS AND FLAVOURS OF AUTUMN IN LIVIGNO

At an altitude of over 1800 metres above sea level, one breathes a different air... Autumn has arrived in Livigno, infusing a new energy into the area, which, day after day, welcomes the change and transforms itself into a visual spectacle: the eyes of tourists, mountain enthusiasts and locals alike can admire the many typical autumn hues - from yellow to green, through brown to shades between orange and red - that dress Livigno's luxuriant nature, immersing themselves in an impressionist painting

The other protagonists of the autumn season are the scents of autumn, which are released above all along the mountain paths on both sides of the valley, such as on the path leading to the Baite'l del Moton da l'Al, one of the most beautiful and special in Little Tibet: a path along which to enjoy the peace and tranquillity that only silent, unspoilt nature can transmit to those who want to regenerate mind, body and spirit with en plein air activities. Once they have reached the baitel - small mountain huts typical of Livigno that have been renovated and can be used as resting places during the day or at night - autumnal hiking enthusiasts can enjoy an immersive and typically Livigno experience.

To best tackle this adventure, made up of alpine aromas and sensations all to be discovered, one must rely on the advice of expert guides, such as Matteo Galli, Mountain Guide of Outventure Livigno, who described the route as follows: ‘This is an excursion of intermediate difficulty, suitable for those who love trekking without having to be a real professional. The duration of the walk is about 2 hours and 45 minutes: starting from the car park P6 La Tresge'nda, we proceed for 7.7 km in the heart of Livigno's nature, climbing hairpin bends in the larch and fir forest to reach meadows and stony ground enhanced by the colours and scents of junipers and rhododendrons. We then arrive at the Chese'iera da li Mina, from where we then take the path back towards Livigno, finally reaching the Baite'l dal Moto'n da l'Al. After that, a few more minutes of walking downhill and you arrive at the Baite'l da la Ble's. First, however, I advise everyone to stop and take in the magnificent scenery offered by this path; at 2,308 metres, the view over Livigno is truly unique.’

And if the hours spent discovering the area have reinvigorated four senses - smell with the scents, sight with the landscape, touch with the immersion in the flora, and hearing with the soothing sounds of Livigno's nature -, the return to the village will also satisfy the taste buds by trying the typical and seasonal food and wine based on high quality genuine ingredients and km0 products. Throughout the autumn season, from mid-September to the end of November, restaurateurs will celebrate the season with special menus: the proposals of the ‘Autumn Flavours’ menus will see pumpkin, cinnamon, chestnuts and much more as the main ingredients, releasing fragrances capable of warming the hearts and delighting the palates of travellers who will be able to be pampered during their moments of rest and relaxation in the centre of Livigno.
